Yesterday, today, and tomorrow
![]() | Currently Stuck In My Head: |
Yesterday, I
- cooked this tofu dish that came out looking and smelling worse than it tasted (the fish sauce bottle looked just like the chili sauce)
- bought a beanie baby from McDonald's
- played with my new laptop
Today, I
- cheated on the beltway by cutting through the Cabin John Parkway exit on the outer loop
- was a part of a conference call for the second time ever (I actually talked this time)
- discovered this iced tea mix in the kitchen
- turned on ClearType on my work laptop (who knew!)
- feel like I am in over my head at work
Tomorrow, I
- get my first full paycheck
- become a palindrome once again (not since 1993!.... oh, if only my life were more like 1993... [jm reference there, for those of you taking notes])
- who knows what else...

Early weekend!
NYC tomorrow morning, back on Saturday night...

Woot!
Oh! Check out the TMBG music video on Homestarrunner.com again... there's now a director's commentary if you click on "Directed by Strong Sad & The Cheat" at the beginning. Funny stuff.

New iPods and Xanga RSS fun
In case you haven't already heard, Apple is "announcing" the new iPods through this week's Newsweek, hitting news stands tomorrow.

Whatever you do, don't fall for this.
This is now my new favorite music video.
On a totally different note, is anyone reading this a Xanga user/reader who uses RSS feeds? Doing a quick Google search, I found that Xanga provides an RSS feed for each user at http://www.xanga.com/rss.aspx?user=<username here>. However, this RSS 0.91 feed is not well-formed, and marginally useful. Moreover, I thought it would be even cooler to have a feed containing all of the users that I (you!) subscribe to. So I'm now working on this. Let me know if you find this useful.

VUSE
This is now my desktop background for my laptop at work. It's funny how sometimes it's not until after you leave something that you begin to miss it, and in fact are proud of the very bane of your existence for the past 4 years.
What am I saying... I'm not done yet. Haha.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity
A photo journey through the storm and the aftermath. Well, more aftermath than storm:
Here's an aerial photo of me working:

So... that's what I've been doing all weekend. I think I did 28 bundles over the weekend, and then 6 more this evening. Still a little bit more to go. I found that the weekend is much more enjoyable now that I'm working during the week. And especially when free slurpees are involved.
...
I wish I was Kevin Britten. Well, actually, I don't wish I was him... I just want the prize.

Friday!
There's nothing like a cold nestea cool to get you through the end of the work week.
(My "week" consisted of two days...)
Time to get out of here, and crank up the Matt Wertz. Feels like a Clara Barton Parkway day.

Window office
In the past 36 hours, the storm of the decade (I just made that up) blew through our neighborhood, 4 of our huge pine trees in the backyard have fallen (or at least, the top halves of them), our internet has gone down (until tonight), and I started working (back at ICF Consulting).
(I'm feeling rather parenthetical tonight).
I have a window office now!

Chat box!
Songs running through my head:
- John Mayer's 3x5 live intro ("I've been gone too long... can I still come home?...")
- Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms (after watching the West Wing Season 2 Finale... gives me the chills. Or the heebie jeebies)
As you can see (hopefully), I've reworked the top site navigation bar a bit, and brought back the chat box. It was harder than I thought, porting what I had done before in ASP to PHP. Especially when Kenner tried to break it. So now, you can leave comments here, on pictures in the photo gallery, or in the chat box. Or, you can just sit there and be non-interactive. That's cool too.

jasontan.org
If you were wondering why my site was down this weekend, or wondering what the "big news" is... well, here it is. OK, so it's really not that big, but a little hype never hurt anyone, right?
(drum roll, please)
I registered for jasontan.org! It finished propogating through the DNS servers a couple days ago, but I figured I'd hype it up a bit, and work on a new layout. Well, I think I hyped it up enough, but the layout leaves much to be improved. It kind of stinks right now. Nevertheless, I present to you: jasontan.org:
- homepage: http://jasontan.org (the www is optional)
- blog: http://blog.jasontan.org
- photo gallery: http://gallery.jasontan.org
You can also now email me at <anything you want> AT jasontan.org (for example, yourwebsitestinks AT jasontan.org)
Saw Spider-Man 2 on Friday...

This, and other in-depth reviews, can be found here.
There's also a couple new things around the site, so check out the navigation links at the top.
The weekend was great. Happy belated Independence Day! I won't bore you with the details...
if we're adding to the noise, turn off this song

Another one titled "G.G.M."
In response to Crystal and her attack on my spelling of great googaly moogaly (which could also be spelled, "googly moogly", but I prefer the extra syllable, as used in Frank Cho's Liberty Meadows comic strip; either way, it's definitely not "googali moogali")...

Google is never wrong. Whoa.. all this googaly and googly and google is making me dizzy.
